Social Effectiveness Training

SET, founded in 1980, offers cost-effective training, coaching and consultancy that is innovative, challenging, thought-provoking, inspiring and, most of all, makes a difference after the event!

SET focuses on the potential that we all have to acheive excellence, to aim higher whilst accepting that we can all fall somewhat short of our aspirations. Managers, team leaders, team players, supervisors, CEOs, anyone who wants to do their best and get the best from their work and their working relationships.

SET events are different and unusual for a number of reasons, including:

No role plays! (Yes, some people will be disappointed!). Every body has enough drama in their lives already, so discussions and exercises always relate to and focus on what the delegates need to discuss or debate.

No case studies! (With very rare exceptions), because, given that delegates will discuss what concerns or inspires them, there are always real life examples to motivate, inspire or alert group members.

No agenda! Of course there will be pre-determined outcomes for the specific training topic e.g. Team-building, Celebrating Diversity, Presentation Skills, Supervisory Management, etc., and delegates will be asked to articulate their individual and collective specific outcomes the training. But there will seldom be a specific time-table into which delegates must fit. On the contrary, the programme relates to the issues and concerns raised by delegates. Exercises are created in relation to what comes out of discussion. And theory is referenced specifically to the frustrations, anxieties, group dynamics, or personal tensions in the room.

No Gossip! This means that delegates get very little opportunity to talk about people who are not on the training.

What's left , then?" You might be wondering.

You, the other delegates, me and the energy we co-create through the debates, exercises and group discussions.

Your hopes, anxieties or aspirations for the future. Maybe your frustration, even your anger about what has been or is happening in your work place. The skills you already have that you might not fully recognise or appreciate, and the skills you might want to develop in order to do or be whatever serves the best in you as a person and as a professional

What do I want? That delegates leave the training feeling more confident and competent, with the will and the skills required for crafty communication.

And then?  Delegates should expect to have some of their limiting beliefs and bed-rock assumptions challenged. Hopefully, they will feel at least the amount of discomfort that indicate that they've gone beyond their comfort zone. And also an enjoyable and useful experience that might just be , motivating and enabling - and more.
